World Health Day is celebrated all across the world to share knowledge and create awareness of human health. This year the awareness day takes place on April 7th and we’ve compiled some weekend activities that will keep you fit and healthy.
Here’s five of our top tips to staying healthy:
#1 Pamper yourself
Treating your body well and looking after your own wellbeing will give a much-needed boost to your overall health. Whether it’s putting your feet up with a cup of tea, getting a foot rub or spending the entire day in a spa, relaxation can make you feel amazing.
Join us at DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro, where our health club offers a range of invigorating beauty treatments and spa therapies to soothe your body and soul. Choose from massages, facials, Indian head massage and reflexology. Come for the whole day and indulge in our full-on pamper days.
#2 Eat breakfast
We’re always told by health experts: never skip breakfast! Eating breakfast not only starts your day off right, it can also maintain blood sugar levels and ensures you’re less likely to snack on unhealthy foods as hunger kicks in later. Plus, breakfast is pretty delicious.
At the Dunblane Hydro, we never miss breakfast. In fact, it’s one of the things we’re famous for. Our DoubleTree all-you-can-eat breakfast is full of Scottish favourites, as well as fruit juices, cereal, yogurts, fruit and more.
#3 Get active
Exercise produces endorphins which flood your body with feel-good hormones. Not only that, but exercise is proven to improve circulation, fitness levels and aid in weight loss.
Keep active when visiting DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro by swimming a few lengths in the pool or working out in the LivingWell Health Club, featuring state-of-the-art fitness equipment.
With an excellent location in the beautiful Perthshire countryside, nature’s gym is right outside our door! These boots were made for walking, so grab them and let’s go:
Dunblane to Ashfield: 2.75 miles
Enjoy the scenic riverside walk past Dunblane Cathedral and the charming main street, to the pretty village of Ashfield.
Dunblane to Bridge of Allan: 2.75 miles
Also known as the Darn Walk, this beautiful linear route follows a riverside path that dates back to Roman times.
#4 Eat loads of fruit and veg
Peppered goat’s cheese, butternut squash risotto, roast vegetable and feta strudel, red lentil pate…all this and more is on offer at The Kailyard by Nick Nairn, our signature restaurant. Since we know it’s important to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables to stay healthy, we’ve created a delicious vegetarian menu. Top it all off with an apple tart, banoffee tart or Nick’s berry trifle. These count as one of your five-a-day, right?
#5 Get some zzzzs
Sleep is essential to maintaining good health; if you don’t get enough, you feel sluggish and run down. A short nap isn’t enough; re-charge your batteries with a long, good night’s sleep. We’re here to provide the perfect environment for a restful night at DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro. Think soft, comfy beds, stylish rooms and tranquil Scottish countryside…
