Great Family Activities for the Easter Holidays

The Easter break is just around the corner, which means you’ll be looking for exciting things to do to keep your kids entertained. If you live in Dunblane or Stirling, or you’re visiting the hotel for the Easter holidays, there’s a multitude of fun family attractions nearby.

Here’s our pick of the best:

Briarlands Farm

Briarlands Farm is located in Blair Drummond, near Stirling, and offers lots of outdoor fun for children and adults alike. If the weather isn’t ideal there’s an indoor craft area where kids can get creative. When the weather is fine, there are animals to feed, tractor go-karts, mini diggers, sand pits, mazes, a zip wire and huge jumping pillows – all out in the fresh, Scottish air. For the parents, there’s a quaint tearoom serving fresh strawberries picked directly from the farm, plus tea, cakes and more.

Open Mon-Sun, 10am – 5.30pm

Blair Drummond Safari Park

Blair Drummond Safari Park is a short drive from Dunblane, making it the perfect day trip from DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro. Drive through the animal park to see tigers, lions, elephants and loads more. Watch the exciting sea lion presentation, take a boat safari to Chimp Island and get some exercise on the pedal boats. Get up close to the animals in the petting farm or let your kids run wild in the adventure play area.

Season begins again 19th March 2016

Stirling Castle

Teach your little ones all about Scottish history in a fun and interactive environment at Stirling Castle. The regal castle was home to Scotland’s Renaissance kings and queens, including the childhood residence of Mary Queen of Scots. Explore the Royal Palace, the Great Kitchens, Queen Anne Gardens and the Chapel Royal on an informative guided tour.

The Festival of Foolery takes place this Easter weekend, from 26th March to 27th March. Learn the tricks of the trade from a court jester, dress up in silly costumes and entertain the royal audience!

Castle open 9.30am – 5pm

The Peak at Stirling Sports Village

A great place to burn off all that extra energy, The Peak is an indoor leisure centre in Stirling. Enjoy a spot of family ice skating or take your kids to the ice disco. There’s also inflatable fun sessions in the swimming pool and a climbing wall for those looking for even more adventure.

Open Sat 7am – 8pm, Sun 8am – 8pm

Doune Castle

Built for the Regent Albany, Doune Castle is a 14th century courtyard castle that appears in Game of Thrones, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and new TV show, Outlander. There’s audio tours narrated by Monty Python’s Terry Jones, plus a scenic nature trail in the grounds of the castle.
