Discover the Craft of Local Microbreweries

Discover the Craft of Local Microbreweries

Unique experiences are growing in popularity as we search for one-of-a-kind activities to share with our friends. We're now more interested in small businesses than ever before, with microbrewery tours becoming increasingly popular. These local landmarks offer visitors a chance to take a behind-the-scenes look at small-scale craft beer production.

Craft beer is on the rise in the UK, with the number of microbreweries increasing from 140 to 1,700 since 1970 – with each offering unique choices for locals looking for a non-traditional tipple. Allanwater Brewhouse, just three miles from DoubleTree Dunblane, offers an atmospheric pub, cask ales to purchase and tours of their facilities – with a free taste for good measure! Remember to stop by the front desk to organise a taxi if you don't have a nominated driver.

Allanwater Brewhouse Tours

Visit this independent microbrewery, who use only the most natural and ethical ingredients, and discover the secrets of local craft beers – perfected over 20 years. Held twice a day, visit after lunch or in the evening.

Each Tour Includes:

  • Meeting one of the brewers
  • An in-depth talk of the brewing process
  • Sampling the raw ingredients used to produce the beers
  • A discussion about how the cider is made
  • Sampling of all available beers and ciders
  • A pint of your favourite beer or cider

Tours begin at just £12 per person and range from hour-long brewery tours to full-day, hands-on “Brewer for a Day” experiences. Stop by the shop and take home cask-conditioned beers crafted with 100% natural ingredients, merchandise and gift cards.

In the attached Brewhouse Pub, sample the eight beers and two ciders on draft and enjoy the welcoming aromas of hops and malt. Each staff member shares a passion for brewing and they're always at hand to offer tastings and suggestions.
