Dunblane Road Race - Sunday 28 May

Join us in Dunblane on Sunday May 28 as amateurs and experts run, jog and walk their way to the finish line. Last year the race enticed 452 participants, who ran a total of 5224 km in the Scottish sunshine – this year we hope for more of the same. On your marks. Get set. Go!

12km Adult Race - 1pm

For 2017 there’s a new route – the race starts and finishes in Dunblane High Street, close to Andy Murray’s Gold Post Box. Integrated timing chip/race numbers will be available from the race registration desk at Victoria Hall on the day.

The Course

  • After exiting High Street, the route heads north along Perth Road through the village of Kinbuck. 
  • After crossing the River Allan at Cromlix Bridge (3 miles) it turns left and follows Auchenlay Road back towards Dunblane.
  • After re-entering Dunblane the route follows Doune Road, Springfield Terrace, Sunnyside and back into the High Street, finishing near the Gold Post Box.

  • Senior - 16-39 
  • Vet - 40-49
  • Supervet - 50-59
  • Vintage - 60+

Results

Results will be available almost immediately after the race and posted on the Dunblane Road Race website. As a keepsake, runners can obtain a printout of their time, overall position and category position. What’s more, there’s a cash prize for each category – which is sure to help weary legs recover!

2km Youth Race - 12pm

This shorter race is the perfect way to encourage kids to get out there and get active. Registration is in the Victoria Halls between 10am-11.30am, where each runner is given their integrated timing chip/race number.

The Course

  • Starting on Dunblane High Street
  • Routing around the Allan Water, over the Faerie Bridge and into Memorial Park
  • Back via Bridgend and finishing near Andy Murray’s Gold Post Box
  • The event will be heavily marshalled and the route clearly marked

Training Tips

The big day’s approaching. Are you ready? Take a look at our top running tips.

  • Warm up – try dynamic stretching such as high knees or walking lunges to get the blood flowing 
  • Stay hydrated – you lose water when running, so keep your fluids up
  • Invest in the correct shoes – nothing ruins a run like a blister popping!
  • Music is a maybe – you can lose your stride if concentrating on varying beats, but music is known to motivate many amatueur runners
  • Cool down – static stretching is best for post-run routines
