A Mans Guide to Leisure in Dunblane

A Mans Guide to Leisure in Dunblane

Head to Dunblane with a group of guys or even fly solo for a well-deserved break and you’ll find yourself spoiled for choice with a world of amazing entertainment opportunities. It’s natural to assume that Dunblane and the surrounding regions are all about churches and nature walks, but there’s really so much more to the locality than meets the eye. So whether you’re looking to arrange that perfect birthday trip or perhaps a slightly more civilised bachelor party than the average, take it from us when we say that our proud home of Dunblane serves up far more than you could ever wish for.

Here’s a look at just a few of our top picks:

1 - Deanston Distillery & Visitor Centre

Let’s be honest – what trip to Scotland would be complete without a visit to a real working distillery where whisky tasting is very much on the cards? You’ll enter not knowing a great deal about the stuff and leave with a headful of insights guaranteed to enhance your enjoyment of Scotland’s most iconic libation. Small in size but big in character, it’s a wholly unique distillery you shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit.

2 - Stirling Ghost Walk

It might sound a little cheesy on the surface but is by rights the kind of thing that’s pure gold for a night out with the fellas. Not to be confused with so many of these spooky-type walks that take things a bit too seriously, this is a walk that’s designed to be entertaining and downright hilarious while at the same time showing you a side of the region you’d otherwise never have come across. Even when the weather’s not exactly in your favour, it’s worth indulging in.

3 - The Falkirk Wheel

A truly remarkable piece of modern technology, The Falkirk Wheel is the World's first and only rotating boat lift and an attraction surely to impress techie types.  This marvelous feat of engineering came about to link the forth & clyde canal with the Union canal which previously was linked by 11 locks over a 1.5km stretch, however this was dismantled in 1933 and the two canals had lay unconnected since up until the Falkirk Wheel was built in 2002.  Now people travel from all over the world to see the wheel in action.

4 – Knockhill Circuit Driving Experiences

Fancy yourself as a bit of a race-car driver in the making? Ever wondered what it’d be like to get behind the wheel of a Ferrari 360 where the rules of the road don’t apply? Well, here’s your chance, as the driving experiences on offer at nearby Knockhill Circuit are as varied as they are awesome. Whatever takes your fancy, your thirst for speed will be satisfied in spades.

5 – Fishing

Last up, whether you’re a seasoned pro or have yet to work out one end of your rod from the other, Dunblane is surrounded by dozens of the most incredible fishing opportunities to be found anywhere in the UK. And as you’ll probably already know, the actual fish-catching element of the excursion is really only where about 1% of the entertainment lies…you can use your own imagination to figure out the rest!
