A Champagne Cocktail for A Spectacular Hogmanay

The biggest party night of the year is almost upon us. If you’re hosting a party then it’s not too late to whip up this delicious champagne cocktail to wow your guests.

Shaker

 

You will need sugar syrup for this recipe (if you don’t have any you can make some by gently heating a cup of water in a saucepan with a cup of sugar). Don’t let the mixture get too hot – it shouldn’t even come to a simmer. Stir the syrup and, once the sugar seems to be dissolved, add another cup of sugar and continue mixing until this is also dissolved. Allow to cool and store in the fridge for up to 6 months.

Champagne Cocktail

 

Recipe  

Ingredients

½ freshly squeezed lemon or 5ml lemon juice

5ml sugar syrup 25ml St. Germain (elderflower liqueur)

Champagne to top up  

Garnish

1 x raspberry

Lemon swirl, made from lemon rind  

Add the following into a cocktail shaker: freshly squeezed lemon/lemon juice, sugar syrup and St Germain.

Give it a good shake and strain into a champagne glass.

Top with champagne and add the garnish.
